SACRED GEOMETRY… FITTING THE WORLD INTO CIRCLES, SQUARES, TRIANGLES AND OTHER GEOMETRIC SHAPES.
My first contact with Sacred Geometry starts with the Renaissance artists and their rediscovery of it. Dan Brown pulled together concepts and visual information that artists have been using for centuries and called it “The Da Vinci Code.” Leonardo, himself, was practicing concepts that date back to Persia, Babylon and Egypt. Da Vinci used these theories for contemporary applications- contemporary to the Renaissance. Making art and architecture in harmony with the magnetic forces of the earth, the origins of Sacred Geometry, can be considered as having their roots with cavepersons. The locations of cave paintings and the manner in which they were painted- all based on those human abilities to sense and flow with earth’s currents.
The concepts and elements of Sacred Geometry stretch a creative person’s abilities beyond what we humans think we are capable of.
The exploration and practice of Sacred Geometry provides new, active ways to better understand God. Dan Brown’s book isn’t an end unto itself; it is merely a starting point. Frankly, I’d rather meet Dan Brown’s EDITOR as opposed to him- in light of trying to get through “Angels and Demons?” the prequel to “The Da Vinci Code.” “The Da Vinci Code” is an introduction, merely. We shouldn’t ask it to be anything more than that. It is a very exciting introduction. The information regarding Jesus’ marriage to Mary Magdalene and her subsequent gospels, their offspring- are all especially worth exploring and re-considering. It brings new life and interest to the Catholic Church and all religions. “The Da Vinci Code” popularizes discussions and thinking of religion’s place in our daily lives.
THE WONDER OF SACRED GEOMETRY…It is all interpretation, that’s the cool thing about Art. Dan Brown does not have the final say on any of this, nor do I feel he claims to. “The Da Vinci Code” is a thriller, a work of fiction based upon possible truths and probable practices. Looking for and recognizing Sacred Geometry sure makes life more interesting. As adults, we leave our beliefs in the tooth fairy, Santa Claus, ghosts and superheroes behind us. The vivid colors of our lives are also bleached out by adulthood. Sacred Geometry brings the mystical and awe-inspiring back into our worlds while providing all the concrete, factual elements a healthy adult brain craves.
